‘Star Wars’ Celebration, Episodes VII Rumors & More

“Star Wars” Celebration Europe recently wrapped up and much of the focus was on the 30th anniversary of “Return of the Jedi.” But, there were a few tidbits thrown in about Episode VII.

Warwick Davis, the man who played “Wicket” got to interview some of the cast members from “Jedi” and their experience on the film. Check out several of the clips below.

Aside from all the celebration in Germany, ABC was busy doing business back here in the states. They are considering a live-action television show based on the “Star Wars” movies.

Reuters reported ABC is speaking with Lucasfilm and had this quote from the head of Disney’s Entertainment Group:

“We’ve started conversations with them. I have an inkling in my mind, but they have a lot on their plate.”

A live-action TV series has been rumored for a very long time, but that was back when people weren’t ready for another trilogy that may or may not have direct ties to the Original trilogy. Will audiences respond to an every week fix of “Star Wars” or will it be an overload? Tough to say. I’m typically on the side of less is more.

Another interesting development. The re-release of both trilogies on Blu-Ray and DVD in a combo pack. Amazon originally had them listed with a new audio commentaries from archival interviews, however that has since changed. So, I guess this is for any DVD-only owners that want to hear Darth Vader shout “NOOOOO!!!” when the Emperor is sizzling Luke with lightning and to see Wicket blink. The covers for both are below and you can order the original trilogy here and the prequel trilogy here.

And finally, a good bit of humor. Last season on Parks and Recreation, Patton Oswalt went on a filibuster during a town meeting, but filled the time with what he thought the plot of the next “Star Wars” should be. They only aired part of it on the show, but released the entire 8 minute rant online. Since a few people have covered that audio with animation. Here is the latest iteration. Funny stuff!

Okay, that’s it for this week. Until next time, may the force be with you, always.
